Local author Karen Humeniuk will celebrate the launch of her debut novel, East of Midnight, at Fiction Addiction on Wednesday, November 20, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

In East of Midnight, when Grandpa died, the light in Cameron Asher’s life went out — util he met Lydia Carpenter. Cameron enjoyed an uncomplicated friendship with Lydia while they volunteered in a soup kitchen during high school, but a tragic accident that he was helpless to avert continues to haunt him. Three years later it stops him from calling her, while memories of her prevent him falling in love with anyone else.

Karen Humeniuk explores the nature of choice: those arising from self-interest and those wonderful choices that arrive through the kindness, love, and wisdom of friends.

A native of Durham, North Carolina, Karen S. Humeniuk lives with her dermatologist husband, John, in Greenville, SC. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology then worked in cancer research and clinical microbiology before earning a master’s in landscape architecture. Now retired, she enjoys doting on her grandchildren. East of Midnight is Humeniuk’s first novel, but loyal Greenville News readers may recognize her name from the many Letters to the Editor she had published.
