Greenville Greek Festival Returns May 16-19

The magic of Greece comes to downtown Greenville May 16-19. The festival will feature authentic Greek food served in Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s Hellenic Center during lunch and dinner.

Take-out orders for food and pastries will also be available throughout the festival. Drive-thru lanes on Elford Street will be available for take-out meals on Thursday and Friday only; and fax orders will be accepted for lunch both Thursday and Friday.

Outside food booths will offer Greek favorites: gyros, souvlaki, tiropita, Greek fries, Greek sausage, saganaki, Greek burgers, calamari and much more. Mouth-watering native Greek food will be abundant!

The Greek Coffee Shoppe (Kafenion) will offer exotic Greek coffee and the indescribable “loukoumades,” a kind of Greek doughnut dipped in honey. There will also be Greek wine and American coffee available.

The amphitheater will offer live Greek music and traditional folk dancing throughout the weekend as well, with dancers dressed in traditional costumes of the various regions and islands of Greece will performing.

At the festival you and your family can spend the afternoon strolling through the “plaka” of various vendors. You’ll find Greek imports such as sponges, worry beads, jewelry, T-shirts, Grecian coin skirts and much more, much more. Shop to your heart’s content! Be sure to pick up some of those sponges and Greek soaps they are great souvenir items.

Enjoy the children’s Carnival Playland Corner where the entire family can enjoy face painting and other activities. It’s all so much fun!

Festival admission is $1 per person, and free for children under 12. In the interest of enhancing existing security measures, the Greenville Greek Festival is now enforcing a clear bag policy. If prohibited items are found, the item will be confiscated or the guest may personally return it to their vehicle or otherwise dispose of the item away from the facility.
