Sign Up for the Second Quarter of Fiction Addiction’s Mystery Bookclub

You don’t want to miss Fiction Addiction’s new Mystery Bookclub, co-sponsored by the local chapter of Sisters in Crime. The club will meet at the store on the second Wednesday of each month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Each quarter will have a different moderator and a different mystery focus. The initial club will meet April through June and will be moderated by Vicki Vass Tedeschi. The three included selections are: Murder for Sale by Vicki Vass (April), The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins (May), and Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow (June).

In Murder for Sale, Anne Hillstrom is hunting antiques, a diet that works, and her Great Aunt Sybil’s killer. This book tells the story of Anne and CC, two estate sale bloggers and antique hunters, who get more than they bargain for when they discover a killer who is hunting the antique hunters.

In The Woman in White, the story begins with an eerie midnight encounter between artist Walter Hartright and a ghostly woman dressed all in white who seems desperate to share a dark secret. The next day Hartright, engaged as a drawing master to the beautiful Laura Fairlie and her half sister, tells his pupils about the strange events of the previous evening. Determined to learn all they can about the mysterious woman in white, the three soon find themselves drawn into a chilling vortex of crime, poison, kidnapping, and international intrigue.

Presumed Innocent, the novel that launched Turow’s career as one of America’s pre-eminent thriller writers, tells the story of Rusty Sabicch, chief deputy prosecutor in a large Midwestern city. With three weeks to go in his boss’ re-election campaign, a member of Rusty’s staff is found murdered; he is charged with finding the killer, until his boss loses and, incredibly, Rusty finds himself accused of the murder.
