West Washington Street Development Clears First Council Vote

City council has approved the first reading for a land sale that would lead to a mixed-use development of offices, affordable housing, and community green space.

The land sale includes five city-owned parcels totaling 0.8 acres along West Washington Street for redevelopment. Plans for the property include a mixed-use development with 5,000 square feet of office space, 16 affordable housing units, and community green space.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to improve Antley Street, complete on-site improvements, and provide down payment assistance to buyers purchasing the residential and commercial units.

City officials said Washington West could become a model for affordable housing developments on other city owned property.
