Meals on Wheels of Greenville Receives Grant From Dabo’s All In Team Foundation

Meals on Wheels of Greenville recently received a grant from Dabo’s All In Team Foundation. The grant of $5,000 will be used to support Meals on Wheels’ At-Risk Children and Homebound Seniors Meal Program.

Specifically, this grant will fund the purchase of a Delivery Concepts Transportation System, a specialty vehicle designed to transport large quantities of food in temperature controlled storage, both heated and cooled. The transportation system will allow Meals on Wheels the opportunity to serve as a funded partner providing nutritious meals and snacks to multiple agencies supporting a diverse group of recipients including at-risk children and youth in after school and summer meal programs. In addition, the transportation system will bolster Meals on Wheels’ ongoing delivery of supplemental groceries, including fresh fruits and vegetables, to clients in rural areas of Greenville County.

“Purchasing this transportation system is a critical step in allowing us to serve at-risk children and seniors who desperately need the nutritional support,” stated Catriona Carlisle, Executive Director at Meals on Wheels of Greenville. “This grant from Dabo’s All In Team Foundation will not only support our vulnerable homebound clients but also make an impact in the lives of so many others in our community. We are tremendously grateful for their generosity.”

Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life of homebound individuals and seniors by providing nutritious meals, personal interaction and independence. Each day, caring volunteers deliver nearly 1,500 hot, nutritious meals to homebound individuals throughout Greenville County. In 2018, Meals on Wheels celebrated 50 years of delivering hope to the community and 12 million meals delivered. Meals on Wheels is a proud partner of United Way of Greenville County.
