One of Shakespeare’s classics comes alive in an exciting and educational presentation by Warehouse Theatre on Tuesday, October 23 at 9:30 am and 12:00 pm. The performance is part of Diana Wortham Theatre’s Matinee Series for Students and Families. Though written between 1610 and 1611, this professional retelling will have modern students following along on the edges of their seats. This all-female version of The Tempest blends tragedy, comedy and romance in a tale full of magic and revenge. Opening with sinister sorcery and a seething storm at sea and ending with a reunion, one of Shakespeare’s most influential classics comes to vivid life as students witness fantastic spells, murderous plots, and a love story. The Warehouse Theatre Touring Company engages the imagination with creative play and ignites minds with their command of Shakespeare’s language. This production runs approximately 70 minutes with no intermission and is appropriate for middle and high school students.
The Warehouse Theatre is a cultural cornerstone of Greenville, SC’s Historic West End District and home to at least six productions a year, as well as The Upstate Shakespeare Festival at Falls Park, This Wooden O Education Program, Applied Theatre Program, Educational Shakespeare Tour, and more. The theatre’s Educational Tour presents Shakespeare across the states, making Shakespeare “hip” with 75-minute professional productions using original Shakespearean text.
