Come see an exhibit of artwork created in just twenty-four hours! Submissions for the annual Flat Out Under Pressure competition are on display through July 13th at the Metropolitan Arts Council Gallery.
The ninth annual Flat Out Under Pressure (FOUP) was held earlier in June. With eight bins for paper, plastic, and glass in various locations along Main Street, FOUP encourages recycling among pedestrians while creating a different exhibiting opportunity for visual artists.
The selected winners are given the opportunity to choose two images of their work for reproduction on the bins. The winning artists also receive cash prizes and the 1st place winner is awarded a week-long trip to Italy for two to stay in the beautiful Villa Sant’ Andrea.
2018 was the biggest year yet for Flat Out Under Pressure with 112 artists who returned pieces to MAC after just 24 hours. The winners this year are: Michelle Jardines, Elizabeth Kenny, Barbara Castaneda, Katie Walker, Teresa Roche, Keith Grace, Nick Ring, and Angela Zajac-Brunch.
Be sure to check out Greenville’s unique outdoor exhibiting space along Main Street in downtown. Current artists featured on the bins were the winners of last year’s Flat Out competition in 2017.
