Share Your Ideas on a Future Downtown Greenville

A drop-in style open house will be from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 20th, at Tate Plaza in Falls Park. Stop by and share your ideas as the city launches the new downtown master planning process.

The City of Greenville has hired Urban Design Associates, an international urban design and architecture firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to develop a strategic master plan for downtown Greenville. The objectives of the plan are to attract and retain businesses, residents, and visitors while ensuring the uniqueness and authenticity of downtown; position downtown for the attraction and retention of a workforce for the new economy, and continue the right blend of development and redevelopment.

The planning process is expected to take six months and the project team will work with a variety of downtown stakeholders, including property owners, residents, businesses, developers, philanthropies, and elected officials, to develop a unified vision and comprehensive implementation strategy. In addition to Urban Design Associates, the project team will also include Hawkins Partners (landscape architecture/public space design); HR&A Advisors (market analysis); Thomas & Hutton (civil engineering); and Walker Parking (parking strategy).

At this informal, drop-in style open house, the public will have an opportunity to meet representatives from Urban Design Associates and share their ideas and opinions about the future of downtown, including its buildings, streets, park spaces and uses. Light refreshments will be served.

The open house takes place at Tate Plaza at Falls Park in the covered area outside Spill the Beans on Wednesday, June 20th. In the event of inclement weather, the open house will be held in the 1st floor conference room of City Hall.
