Annual Meals on Wheels Event Provides More Than 55,400 Meals to the Homebound

Meals on Wheels of Greenville’s annual Sweetheart Charity Ball provided over 55,400 meals to the homebound in Greenville County.

“We are extremely grateful to our generous sponsors, volunteers and supporters for donating their time and resources to help us kick off Meals on Wheels’ 50th year of service to our community,” said Catriona Carlisle, Executive Director at Meals on Wheels of Greenville. “The money raised at the Sweetheart Charity Ball will support our Meal Enhancement Program to help us meet federal guidelines for senior nutrition, provide more fresh fruits and vegetables, and deliver more groceries to our homebound clients throughout Greenville County.”

The Sweetheart Charity Ball was held at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. Funds were raised through silent and live auction items, Fund-a-Need donations and sponsorships by generous partners including Greenville Health System, Greenville Maintenance Services, Inc., Heiser Distribution, Hincapie Sportswear, Michelin, Strange Bros. Grading Co., Inc., Cintas and PNC Bank.

Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life of homebound individuals and seniors by providing nutritious meals, personal interaction and independence. Each day, caring volunteers deliver nearly 1,500 hot, nutritious meals to homebound individuals throughout Greenville County.
