REBUILD ANDERSON is a free, awareness-raising event that serves as a fundraiser, volunteer recruitment event, and cultivation event. Rebuild Anderson will provide lunch, a panel, and a homeowner spotlight.
Last year, Rebuild Upstate served 31 homeowners in Anderson County. We hope to provide home repairs to at least 35 Anderson community members this year. Support raised at this event will be a critical part of raising the funds and social capital we need to serve more of our low-income neighbors in Anderson County. As of 12/31/18, there were 194 Anderson County homeowners waiting for assistance.
Rebuild Upstate makes a life-changing impact on homeowners served, just like Mrs. Thompson. Mrs. Thompson has experienced the generosity of Rebuild Upstate supporters first-hand. In her home, she raised grandchildren. She experienced love and loss. She spends time with her family. Recently, Mrs. Thompson began experiencing pain when using her stairs to go outside. The pain made it difficult to get outside to play with her nephew.
Now, thanks to Rebuild Upstate volunteers, Mrs. Thompson can get in and out of her home without pain. The ramp provided her with more than she expected. She gained freedom, independence, and safety. Mrs. Thompson even has more energy now because she goes outside more often. Most importantly, she can continue to be with her family as she ages.
Mrs. Thompson is one of the thirty-one homeowners served in Anderson County last year.
