What could be more fun than bagging a turkey for your Thanksgiving dinner?
At the Fifth Annual BAMA Turkey Shoot, you can enjoy great food, tests of skill, and wonderful music.
Toney Creek Plantation has graciously offered its incredible amenities to this year’s hunt. Located out Hwy. 247, Toney Creek Plantation sits on acreage owned by the same family for 200 years!
Registration begins at 9 AM at the scenic upland hunting preserve. The last shoot will be at 1:15 PM.
Hosted by the Belton Area Museum Association, the event is free to attend, thanks to presenting sponsor Sportsman’s Warehouse.
“This old-fashioned event is open to participants young and old,” said Abigail Burden, BAMA Executive Director.
Participants can purchase targets for $5 to $10 and engage in up to 10 contests of skill to win great prizes. Over the afternoon, entrants will use shotguns to see who can hit a pellet closest to the center of the target.
There is no limit to the number of targets participants can purchase and a running board of top scorers will be posted continuously throughout the day.
Several prizes will be shot for over the course of the day, and winners will take home meat prizes such as turkeys, bacon, sausage, steaks, and hams.
In the children’s division, those from 8 – 12 years of age can purchase a turkey target too. The targets will be set up at a shorter distance. Again, the closest to the mark on a single target will determine the winners and they will receive prizes as well.
“Even if you don’t want to participate in the turkey shoot, there are still lots of fun things to do at the event,” stated Burden.
There will also be entertaining bluegrass music (at noon), games and crafts for kids, and food, of course.
Even if you aren’t a shooter, come just for the lunch and music!
