Jamestown to Jamestown: A Powerful Journey From USA to Ghana
Aug 24 @ 2:00 pm – Aug 28 @ 5:00 pm

History commonly and most often points to late August in the year 1619 when some “20 and odd Negroes” originating from Angola arrived in the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia as the first documented enslaved Africans to land in what is now The United States of America. Fast forward to 2019 through the continued metamorphosis of the African American, we mark the 400th anniversary of our arrival as men and women still fighting for equal rights, justice and freedom.

The Band’s Visit
Aug 24 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts

“Breaking news for Broadway: IT IS TIME TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN! One of the most ravishing musicals you will ever be seduced by. It is called ‘THE BAND’S VISIT.’” -The New York Times, Critics’ Pick

The critically acclaimed new musical, THE BAND’S VISIT, celebrates the deeply human ways music, longing and laughter can connect us all. After a mix-up at the border, an Egyptian Police Band is sent to a remote village in the middle of the Israeli desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways.

Based on the multi-award winning film, THE BAND’S VISIT is brought to the stage by three-time Tony® nominee DAVID YAZBEK (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Full Monty), Drama Desk nominee ITAMAR MOSES (Nobody Loves You, Fortress of Solitude) and acclaimed director DAVID CROMER (Our Town, The House of Blue Leaves).

The Long Run: Deep River Presents The Eagles’ 20 Greatest Hits
Aug 24 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Triskelion Brewing Company

Deep River presents The Long Run: The Eagles 20 Greatest Hits 1972-1994 In Songs & Stories at Triskelion!

Sharon Lewis started Deep River in early 1992 while living in Southington, Connecticut after the demise of her first band, Amethyst Country. As the founder, drummer, one of three vocalists and band leader, Sharon’s dream was to take the three women and three men of Deep River to Nashville in pursuit of a record deal, but when the time came to leave only vocalist/acoustic guitarist, Sandy Howard joined her in the move to Nashville in April 1993.

The current line-up includes Sharon Lewis on bass guitar and vocals (27+ years) Sandy Howard on acoustic guitar and vocals (27 years) Gerry Brown on pedal steel, dobro, acoustic- and Telecaster guitars (12 years) Justin Watt on drums (11 years) Alec Fehl on lead guitar (3 years) vocalist Nita Smith (2nd year) and just for The Eagles show, Bob Bencze on keyboards and Tim McCall on 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, Telecaster- and bottleneck slide guitar.

The name ‘Deep River’ conjures up thoughts about the natural circle of life, and that’s exactly how one might describe their music—stories of love and loss told in the context of family-style harmonies and danceable rhythms. The Deep River just keeps rolling…
