Registration for Spring 2024 language classes at Upstate International is open!
Embark on a transformative journey with Upstate International’s language classes designed to elevate your career and broaden your horizons. With eight language options available our small classes provide an intimate learning environment where you can progress at your own pace. Immerse yourself in the richness of cultural diversity while acquiring valuable language skills that will open doors to new opportunities.
This 15-week semester beginning January 22nd offers Finnish French Spanish Russian etc. Whether you want to learn a language for work, expand your resume, play, travel, or stimulate your brain, UI has a class for you.
Classes are conducted in an informal relaxed atmosphere and are limited to no more than ten people. There are two types of classes: Regular classes meet once a week for 75 minutes costing $180 per semester and Intensive classes meet twice a week for 90 minutes each costing $480 per semester. Annual memberships are required for all students and cost from $75 to $100.
Classes are held both online and in person at Upstate International 9 S. Memminger Street Greenville SC.

Join Planetarium Director Andy Flynt as he shares a brief history of three satellites on display at the Chesnee Library this month. Mariner 9 was sent to Mars in 1971 to send back the first photos of the Red Planet. Stardust was launched in 1999 and sent to Comets Wild-2 and Tempel 1, returning dust samples from Wild-2 back to Earth in 2006. Dawn was launched in 2007 and orbited protoplanet Vest and the dwarf planet Ceres, sending back information on both and how to the solar system was formed. Afterward he will give an update on the progress of our new Planetarium. |

Women’s Wilderness Weekend is a fun and interactive event where we will learn the fundamental basics for survival, get hands-on in the wilderness, and spend quality time in the company of experienced teachers and like-minded women. The weekend includes hands-on education, Wilderness First Aid Certification and wilderness survival skills training and time to hang out by the firepit one evening.

What to Expect
Participants should arrive by 8:00am on Friday at the SOLO Southeast Classroom on NOC’s main campus in Bryson City, NC. The conclusion of each day will depend on the group and activities. Women’s weekend will include a fireside gathering one evening for anyone interested in attending. Students will observe and participate in both indoor and outdoor scenarios, so please dress appropriately for the season.
