A Greenville restaurant has earned the highest honor – in the world – for restaurant wine programs.
Soby’s New South Cuisine, owned by Carl Sobocinski and the Table 301 restaurant group, earned Wine Spectator’s Grand Award, its most prestigious honor.
The win makes Soby’s the first restaurant in South Carolina to earn the distinction, joining only 97 restaurants worldwide.
Soby’s was established in 1997.
“It is wonderful for Soby’s, it’s wonderful for our team and the people that worked so hard over the years,” an emotional Sobocinski told the Greenville Journal. “But this is for Greenville. This is for South Carolina.”
Since 1981, Wine Spectator, a lifestyle magazine considered a global authority on wine, has presented its Grand Award annually to restaurants with “extraordinary wine programs.” To earn the top honor, a restaurant must show an “exceptional commitment to their wine selections and service.”
Soby’s was one of only three restaurants to receive the award this year. Read Wine Spectator’s full story.
