MEALS ON WHEELS is a home-delivered hot meal service for persons who are unable to prepare their own food, primarily the frail elderly who are confined to their homes.

Senior Action, Inc.
Senior Action, Inc. is seeking volunteers who would enjoy making a difference in the community. Volunteers of all ages are needed. A wide range of individual and group volunteer opportunities are available. Project also available in the evenings, weekends, or from home. For more information, call Dana L. Women Build, a subsection of Habitat for Humanity, is a group of all-women volunteers who unite each year to raise funds and gather workers (female only) to build a home for a needy single woman with children. The local chapter of Women Build has been selected as one of 15 charities to work the Fall for Greenville festival on October 12, 13 and 14 and they need 80 – 100 people (400 volunteer hours) to represent Women Build by working a shift at FFG. Anyone at least 16-years-old (including guys) is eligible to volunteer. Please sign up by going to our website.

facilitates a low-cost spay/neuter program for cats and dogs. Our services are available to anyone who wants to spay/neuter their pet; however, our focus is on targeted surgeries for low-income families. Prices range from $30 to $60 at our clinic, located at 1097 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg.
Volunteers are needed in the Columbia and Greenville area to assist with our growing Assistive Technology Re-Use Program. Volunteers would be responsible for delivering donated assistive technology including wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, power wheelchairs, hospital beds, stair lifts, etc. to people with disabilities to assist them with maintaining their independence! Generous Garden is a new non-profit organization in Greenville county, growing, harvesting, gleaning and giving fresh fruits and vegetables to area food banks, shelters and agencies. They have a 3 acre garden located between Woodruff and Butler Roads and are in need of volunteers to help maintain this area. Generous Garden also takes groups of volunteers to area farms to glean fresh veggies. So far this year, the group has given away over 25,000 pounds of fresh produce to the hungry in the Upstate.
Crossroads Group Home programs facilitate emotional healing and growth, physical health, basic education, restorative independent living skills, social and recreational functioning and vocational pursuit. For those served who are emotionally handicapped, the emphasis is on the restorative and/or establishment of competence.

CRISISline is a 24-hour, 7-day a week confidential hotline offering a nonjudgmental sounding board for people to talk about life’s struggles. Trained phone workers are available to offer a listening ear and to provide community resources and crisis intervention.
is a Christian housing ministry building simple, affordable homes for deserving, needy families. Habitat homeowners buy their homes at cost with a 20 year, interest free loan – and must perform 400 hours of “sweat equity” building their own home or other Habitat homes. We provide a “hand up” instead of a “hand out”.
Can you spare two hours a week? The shelter always needs animal care volunteers. Volunteers work during the shelter’s open hours to feed the cats and dogs, clean the cages,sweep and mop floors, and walk the dogs. We also try to make sure all the animals get love and attention while we’re there. We have a great group of teenagers helping at the shelter, but we need more adults to help with the animal care and adoptions.
You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer–no exceptions (sorry).
Young people under 16, need to have a parent with them.
St. Francis Hospice Bereavement Support Group
St. Francis Hospice Bereavement Support Group offers free training for volunteers to serve as resources persons for information on hospice and end of life care in their congregations and faith communities.
Mental Health Association of Greenville County
Mental Health Association of Greenville County has several volunteer openings. Good listeners are needed to volunteer on CRISISline and TEENline, confidential services providing free community resources information, crisis intervention, and non-judgmental active listening. Angel Food Ministries
Angel Food Ministries needs volunteers to help bag groceries and load them in vehicles one Friday a month. Help is needed between 8am-7pm.
Killingsworth is a transitional home for women emerging from crisis situations. The home serves women from across the southeast, including Greenville, Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, and surrounding counties.
Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA
Operation Comfort is a special program in Army Community Service (ACS) that was established to support deployed service members and their families. Support through Operation Comfort may come in the form of respite childcare, outings or other events that boost morale, family members directly purchasing goods for service members and their families.
Greenville Literacy Assocation needs volunteers to work with adult students to improve reading, writing, math and English as a Second Language skills. Training is provided.
CARE Outreach is a service of the Carolina Pregnancy Center in Spartanburg. They offer Abortion Recovery Support Groups for persons experiencing emotional issues following an abortion.
Hospice Care of South Carolina needs volunteers! What a great way to become involved in the community! Help with patient care, small household chores, or childcare. Groups are also welcome to help with small home repairs, building ramps, yard work, etc. Volunteers are also needed in our Hospice offices, or to bake cookies or make “goodie” bags.
The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to help low-income taxpayers with the preparation of returns and also to help them obtain eligible tax credits and deductions, especially the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, Education Tax Credits and Child Care tax deductions. Anyone who files a basic tax return can have taxes prepared at one of the VITA sites.

We support projects throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Located in downtown Greenville, we need volunteers for switchboard relief, mailings, general clerical, and maintenance.
Loaves & Fishes delivers donations of perishable food to local human services agencies that feed the hungry 364 days a year. More than 60 regular volunteers assist two staff drivers in picking up food donations and delivering them directly to the agency that will use the food. Great family activity, as drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance and use their private vehicle.
Greenville Sexual Trauma Center
Greenville Sexual Trauma Center is seeking individuals to be “on call” at least twice a month to respond to phone calls to the hotline and to be available to go to the Emergency Room when there are sexual assault cases. The training for this volunteer opportunity begins on September 17th.
