The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Futures Group recently announced that Rader Companies, Inc. intends to relocate its corporate headquarters to Woodruff, South Carolina by the third quarter of 2008 and expects to create 25 new jobs.
“Moving the operations of Rader to Jeffrey’s Woodruff, South Carolina facility is an extraordinary opportunity for us,” said Tony Lubiani, President and CEO of Rader. “We are extremely pleased to be joining Jeffrey at the Spartanburg County location and are anxious to become an integral part of South Carolina’s economic development.” The move follows the acquisition of Rader by Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corporation in September, 2007. Rader will move into the Jeffrey facility located in Woodruff. Jeffrey is a subsidiary of K-Tron International, Inc. (NASDAQ-GS:KTII). K-Tron companies produce size reduction and process equipment and systems for a wide variety of industrial markets. “The combination of Rader and Jeffrey significantly expands their presence in the pulp and paper and forest products industries,” said Don Melchiorre, Senior Vice President of K-Tron’s Size Reduction Group. “The combination also provides K-Tron with a platform to participate in the rapidly growing worldwide business of biomass derived fuels, a new field that Rader has been pursuing successfully during the past two years.” Jeffrey is a leading U.S. manufacturer of Chip Sizer™ mills, hammermills, and other size reduction equipment for use by companies in the paper and pulp industries and for similar applications in other industries, including solid waste reduction. Jeffrey also makes large-scale vibrating feeders for coal, minerals, chemicals and other bulk materials. Rader manufactures and markets bulk material handling equipment such as pneumatic conveying systems, screening equipment, engineered storage and reclaim systems and truck dumpers primarily for the forest products industries. Rader products include the Razorback™ sizer, which is used to size bark and waste wood in wood fiber processing applications, and the EDK feeder/delumper, which is used by the worldwide petrochemical industry in manufacturing polypropylene and polyethylene. “By joining forces, Jeffrey and Rader will have more than 150 years of combined experience in the industrial equipment marketplace. This announcement is another sign that the state’s business-friendly climate and skilled workforce are working to attract new jobs and investments to South Carolina. Both the Rader and Jeffrey brands are well known, and their individual names will continue to be prominent in the industries they serve. The newly combined company will be known as Jeffrey Rader Corporation. The consolidation of companies will provide fuller utilization of Jeffrey’s facilities in South Carolina, and both organizations are expected to benefit significantly from improved efficiencies and cost savings in the areas of sales, engineering, administration and customer service. Rader also has offices in Montreal and Vancouver, Canada and in Stockholm, Sweden. Those offices will remain in their current locations, reporting to the global headquarters in South Carolina.
