Southern Author Festival on May 23rd

Join the Greenville County Library System and the Friends of the Greenville County Library System for a daylong event celebrating Southern fiction and poetry.

Meet humorist, short story writer, and novelist George Singleton; the winner of the 2015 South Carolina First Novel Prize, James McTeer; and Southern reader favorite, Karen White.

George Singleton is a Southern author who has written six collections of short stories, two novels, and an instructional book on writing fiction. He was born in Anaheim, California and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina. Singleton graduated from Furman University in 1980 with a degree in Philosophy and an inductee into Phi Beta Kappa.

James McTeer was born and raised in Beaufort, SC. A school librarian in Columbia, SC, he is the grandson of the late J. E. McTeer, whose 37 years as High Sheriff of the Lowcountry (and local witch doctor) served as inspiration for Minnow.

Karen is a New York Times bestselling author and currently writes what she refers to as ‘grit lit’—southern women’s fiction—and has also expanded her horizons into writing a bestselling mystery series set in Charleston, South Carolina.

Authors’ books will be available for purchase. The festival begins at 9:30 am on May 23rd and will last ’til 3:00 pm.
