School Nutrition Foundation Recognizes Greenville’s “Breakfast in the Classroom” Program

Greenville County Schools’ Breakfast in the Classroom program has received national recognition from the School Nutrition Foundation.

A national blogger, writing for the School Nutrition Foundation, published an article highlighting Greenville’s program after interviewing Director of Food and Nutrition Services Joe Urban. Read that entire article here.

Currently, Greenville County Schools has Breakfast in the Classroom programs at Alexander Elementary, Grove Elementary, Welcome Elementary, and Tanglewood Middle School. Monaview Elementary and Armstrong Elementary are scheduled to join the program in the near future.

Since implementing Breakfast in the Classroom, Urban says that reports from school administrators indicate improvement in attendance, lower percentages of tardy students, fewer behavioral issues, and fewer trips to the school nurse.
