Sarah Nguyen Paintings on Display Through September 28th

Paintings by Sarah Nguyen will be on display through September 28th in Thompson Gallery of the Roe Art Building on the Furman University campus.

Thompson Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A reception with the artist is slated for Friday, Sept. 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Roe Art Building.

Restless Shadows is comprised of paintings created using modern mediums and techniques. In a statement Nguyen says, “I render each subject then allow forces such as gravity, chemical interaction, and random chance to take over and dissolve the forms, reflecting the occasional dissolving of boundaries between dreams and waking life, and between self and other, that we experience when engaged in universal human activities such as play, ritual, and art.”

Nguyen lives and works in rural Missouri. Her work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States including galleries in Chicago, Philadelphia, Kansas City and New York City.

She received her BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design, and her MFA in Painting from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She works as an art instructor at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.
