League Academy – A National School to Watch

League Academy of Communication Arts has earned re-designation as a National School to Watch for its ongoing commitment to increased rigor through arts integration, professional development, and student engagement in the curriculum.

League Academy earned the title of “National School to Watch” in 2011, receiving recognition for its programs showing high academic achievement and organizational supports that put them on the road toward excellence. The honor is presented by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform.

League Academy’s magnet program for the arts continues to flourish, with increased use of technology for students through the purchase of Chromebooks for the classroom. The school also implemented a Bring Your Own Device policy so that students would have more access to technology. Counselors are more focused on providing guidance to the “whole child” by addressing each student’s individual needs, and the school has involvement and partnerships with the PTA to fundraise for initiatives such as health and wellness, increased opportunities for student involvement, and technology needs. A partnership with Mentor Greenville has been implemented to address students’ social, behavioral and academic needs.

As a result of implementation of the Schools to Watch program, League Academy continues to increase academic excellence. Examples include:
