George and Rich Hincapie of Hincapie Sportswear presented funds to Meals on Wheels of Greenville totaling $20,000 to help the organization provide meals to homebound individuals.
The donation comes from proceeds generated by the annual Gran Fondo Hincapie, ridden by more than 1,300 cyclists from around the globe, last October.
That same morning, the Hincapie Sportswear founders and staff also packaged more than 1,500 meals that were delivered to the organization’s homebound clients.
“Meals on Wheels clients are our neighbors,” says Hincapie co-founder Rich Hincapie. “It’s great to be able to help people right in the area where you live and we’re happy we can do it through such a dedicated organization as Meals on Wheels.”
Fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) will provide sponsorship for the 9th annual Wheels for Meals Charity Ride presented by Fluor this April 25th. The additional $5,000 will provide more than 1,100 meals for the homebound in our community. In 2014, Wheels for Meals raised enough funds to provide 32,000 meals to clients.
