Greenville Transit Authority Elects 2015 Officers

Pat Dilger, principal at Overstreet Studio in Greenville, was elected 2015 Chair of Greenville Transit Authority/Greenlink during the board’s annual meeting.

An Urban Designer with a Masters in Architecture from Clemson University, Dilger has served on the GTA/Greenlink board since 2010 as an appointee of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation.

Elected as Vice Chairman for 2015 was Dr. Julian A. Reed, Ed.D, MPH, Associate Professor of Health Sciences at Furman University. An appointee of Greenville City Council, Reed is the author of the recent economic impact study on the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail. Reed also will chair the GTA/Greenlink Development Committee in 2015.

Sam Zimmerman, a Greenville County Council appointee, was elected to a second term as GTA Treasurer and also will serve as 2015 Chair of the GTA/Greenlink Finance Committee. Greenlink Transit Director Mark Rickards serves as GTA Board Secretary.

“It is an exciting time to be a part of GTA,” Dilger said. “We have an experienced and engaged board, each of us bringing a unique set of professional perspectives. We are excited about Greenlink plans to extend our hours of operation and to reduce headways on our most popular routes. It is always our priority to find better ways to help those who depend on us to get to their jobs and other important destinations.”

The Greenville Transit Authority (GTA) was created in 1974, by Ordinances of the City of Greenville and Greenville County, pursuant to the Regional Transportation Authority Law, originally adopted in 1973 and later amended. The Authority is governed by a seven-member Board, with two members appointed by Greenville City Council, two members appointed by Greenville County Council, and three members appointed by the Greenville County Legislative Delegation. GTA contracts with the City of Greenville for operations of the public transit system under the brand name Greenlink.

Greenlink provides fixed route transportation services Monday through Saturday in the City of Greenville and throughout Greenville County. The system operates the Clemson Commuter, Clemson Connector and CU-ICAR/St. Francis Shuttle, and owns and operates Greenville’s downtown trolleys. The Greenlink system also includes Greenville Area Paratransit (GAP), an ADA service for those unable to use Greenlink’s fixed route service.
