Roper Mountain Science Center has awarded the Grand Prize of the Elementary Science Fair to Maurena Supra, a fifth grader at Oakview Elementary School.

As Grand Prize winner, Maurena received a certificate, trophy and prize bag, along with a giant cookie to share with her classmates to celebrate her accomplishment. Oakview Elementary received a trophy in honor of Maurena’s award. Maurena also won First Place in the 5th Grade Individual Project Competition and Fourth Place in the 5th Grade Individual Oral Competition.

Winning projects are selected at their schools then move on to compete at the county-wide competition. This year, 29 schools submitted 61 projects in grades 3 through 5.
