Greenlink Adds Free Wi-Fi Service

Greenlink has added complimentary Wi-Fi service to all of its fixed route buses and shuttles, as well as at the Greenlink Transit Center at 100 West McBee Avenue in downtown Greenville.

Using Greenlink’s free Wi-Fi service is similar to connecting with other wireless Internet services in cafes, office buildings or other wireless hot spots. Both PCs and Macs that are Wi-Fi enabled will connect, according to Greenlink Planning Manager Greg Baney. In most instances, launching an Internet browser will automatically open the Greenlink Terms of Use page. Once users accept the Terms of Use, they are routed to the Greenlink Welcome Page, which indicates a successful connection to the Internet.

“As the Greenville area continues to grow, our public transportation system has the potential for a significant growth in ridership that includes professionals who use the system for commuting to work,” Baney said. “Offering free on-board Wi-Fi service is a critical step in strengthening the system and preparing us to better serve a diverse ridership.”

Greenlink provides fixed route transportation services Monday through Saturday in the city of Greenville and throughout Greenville County. Greenlink also operates a daily connector to Clemson University and a CU-ICAR/St. Francis Shuttle on weekdays. The Greenlink system also features Greenville Area Paratransit (GAP), an ADA service provided for disabled individuals who are unable to use Greenlink’s fixed route bus service.
