Mayor Knox White and Nissan of Greer recently celebrated the addition of a Level III charger to Greenville’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
The DC Fast Charger, which rapidly charges electric vehicles (EVs) with direct current electricity, is one of only two in SC and is the fastest charger available. Compared to a Level I charger, which provides a range of four miles per one hour of charging, and a Level II charger, which provides a range of 10 miles per one hour of charging, the Level III charger can charge a vehicle from empty to full in 20 minutes.
While charger use is free, regular garage parking rates apply to enter the facility.
The charger was installed through the Nissan EV Advantage Program, which donates equipment and services to eligible site hosts throughout the country to subsidize the cost to install the chargers. The City worked with ChargeUp, LLC, a preferred EV infrastructure installation partner of Nissan North America on the installation.
