The 30th Blood Bowl Competition

The 30th Clemson/USC Blood Bowl, an annual blood donation competition that helps save lives, has now begun. The competition ends November 22nd and is a prelude to the November 29th rivalry football game.

The Blood Bowl is put on by Alpha Phi Omega Gamma Lambda, Clemson’s chapter of the National Service Fraternity, which says it is the largest blood drive in the Southeast.

Donations from Clemson will benefit The Blood Connection and the AnMed Blood Center. Each person who donates can save up to three lives with their donation. It is estimated that more than 300,000 lives have been saved from this competition.

Donations can be made from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day in the Hendrix Student Center ballrooms or at a number of bloodmobiles located around campus. Bloodmobiles will be located outside of Edwards Hall, McCabe Hall, Riggs Hall, McAdams Hall and Fernow Café; and next to Bowman field.

All donors will receive a free long-sleeved Blood Bowl T-shirt, a chance to win a football signed by Dabo Swinney and a wristband that gives access to deals at local businesses all week long.

People who donate are encouraged to take photos in their Blood Bowl T-shirts and post them on Twitter with the hashtag #CUSavesLives. A winner will be selected each day to receive a Zaxby’s meal card and a T-shirt provided by Greek Gallery.

Additionally, beginning this year the person who refers the most people to donate will win a free tailgating spot and food for the Clemson/USC game.
