The Greenville Transit Authority has finalized the Comprehensive Operational Analysis study of the Greenlink transit system and will hold a drop-in style open house on Thursday, August 24th.
The open house is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Transit Center (100 West McBee Avenue).
The purpose of the open house is to provide an opportunity for Greenville County residents to learn more about the study and view the final recommendations from Connetics Transportation Group, the firm hired by GTA to conduct the study.
The goal of the study was to identify improvements that will increase Greenlink’s efficiency and improve service delivery that can be made without an increase in resources. Examples of possible improvements include redesigning routes and adjusting the policy for buses leaving the transit center. While the recommendations will be discussed at the open house, implementation of any changes will require further public meetings, which are being scheduled for the fall.
According to Gary Shepard, Greenlink’s public transportation director, public awareness and buy-in are crucial components of implementing any improvements. “We want to identify inefficiencies within the system to improve service and convenience for our customers,” said Shepard. “Communicating what these improvements could look like is an important step in the process.”
