Duke Brands Returns to Their Roots

Congratulations to Duke Brands on their recent return to downtown Greenville! Their ribbon cutting ceremony coincided with their centennial anniversary and was a great celebration of the company’s rich history.

Eugenia Duke started selling her sandwiches in downtown Greenville in 1917. Her great-granddaughter and great-great granddaughter were on hand to help cut the ribbon and were presented commemorative centennial coins.

The company is now headquartered at the new Falls Park Place building. Duke Brands, comprised of Duke Foods and Duke Sandwich Company, will occupy the third and fourth floor.

Eugenia Duke’s success is the early 1900’s led to the establishment of a manufacturing factory inside what’s known today as the Wyche Pavilion. To honor Eugenia Duke and the example she set for female entrepreneurs, company and city leaders have announced plans to establish a permanent memorial near Wyche Pavilion in Eugenia’s memory.

Today, Duke Food Productions is one of the top private-label food manufacturers, specializing in a wide range of “homemade” quality foods. Duke Sandwich Company has two locations in Greenville. The restaurants remain true to the family tradition by retaining the original recipes and using only the freshest ingredients possible.
