Tourism Grant Application Now Online

In 2016, City Council established the Tourism Marketing Special Committee and charged its members with evaluating the City’s process for reviewing requests for tourism grant funds.

Tourism grant funds include accommodations tax and hospitality tax funds, which must be used for capital projects, marketing projects and/or events that promote and develop tourism through the generation of publicity and substantially increase travel to the city of Greenville for recreation or leisure. The committee’s recommendations included creating an online application and hosting a workshop for potential applicants.

As a result, the Tourism Grant Fund application is now available at greenvillesc.gov. Approximately $1.7 million in state accommodations tax funds will be available for the upcoming grant cycle. The deadline to apply for funding is February 17 at noon. The City will hold a grant workshop for potential applicants on Tuesday, January 17 at 4 p.m. in the first floor conference room at City Hall (206 S Main St). At the workshop, City staff will discuss the grant criteria and how to apply for FY2017-2018 tourism grant funds.
