2015 Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive

Downtown comes alive every Thursday evening with an outdoor street party featuring live musical entertainment with varied sounds including rock, blues, funk and cover bands.

Stereo Reform, a funk rock band from Greenville, SC, will be the feature performer for July 16th. Stereo Reform is the product of 20th century funk, pop. rock and dance music. 80s babies that grew up with MTV, the synth revolution and listened to their parents pop music on vinyl…music that spanned 3 decades. They sat wide eyed watching Saturday morning cartoons, sitcoms and action shows with timeless theme songs…some of which were nearly epic in their blend of funk and bigger than life and infectious pop sensibility…think Knight Rider, Magnum PI, etc… The budding world of video gaming generated catchy, simply produced synthesized wonder music and the guys soaked it all up. Hip hop was evolving quickly, funk and rock was breeding and producing groups like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, pop was becoming a giant with hits from Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna and more…All of this finds its way into the music of SR.

Main Street serves as the perfect backdrop to this free event series where people can unwind by meeting up with friends, making new acquaintances and networking.

A popular staple in Greenville during the months of March through August, Downtown Alive attracts approximately 50,000 people annually. It is the single largest fundraiser for the Metropolitan Arts Council.
